-Eddie Junior Coleman, 86, passed peacefully on Jan. 16, 2024 at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea after a short illness. Mr. Coleman was born Jan. 6, 1938 in White Sulphur Springs, the son of the late Elmer R. Coleman, Sr. and Elsie Evelyn (Sizemore) Coleman.
Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 63 years Dorothy Jane (Bostic) Coleman, sister Mary Jane Bennett of Baltimore, MD, three brothers Donald Coleman, Darrell Coleman, and Elmo Lee Coleman all of White Sulphur Springs.
He is survived by daughter, Beverly Crane (J.R.) of Clintonville, and daughter Linda Coleman of White Sulphur Springs; grandson Joseph Wickline (Caron) of Unionville, NC; three great-grandchildren Jorja, Cadon, and Carli Wickline all of Unionville, NC; sister Patricia Tingler of White Sulphur Springs; and brother Elmer R. Coleman, Jr. (Sammy) of White Sulphur Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eddie was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother and member of the James Chapel United Methodist Church in Clintonville.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and spent many days playing guitar and singing, travelling to NASCAR races, and WVU football games. Along with his wife Dorothy, they were part of multiple singing groups, most notably “Gloryland Road” for which he played guitar and provided vocals and enjoyed singing the Gospel throughout the Greenbrier Valley. For many years he was part of fast-pitch softball teams from White Sulphur Springs that competed throughout the region. For more than 30 years he worked in the upholstery shop at The Greenbrier Hotel and served as the supervisor for that department during his final 15 years of employment. He served as a White Sulphur Springs Councilman from 2013 to 2015.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 22, at James Chapel United Methodist Church in Clintonville with Pastor Jesse Pope and Pastor Robert McClintic officiating. Graveside services will follow at the New Lebanon Cemetery in Pickaway, WV.
A visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 21 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in White Sulphur Springs from 4 to 6 p.m.
