Organizers of the annual Earth Day Fashion Forward event in Lewisburg are calling for entries from professional and amateur clothing designers. Award prizes will be given in a range of categories. The show will be held on Apr. 20 at 4 p.m.
The newly refurbished Lewis Theater on Court St. in Lewisburg is the venue for this year’s event featuring the theme “Garden Party” – think spring, flowers, trees, birds, butterflies, and everything we love about nature. Sustainable fashion is a hot trend that features materials that are reused, recycled, and repurposed into beautiful creations that also help reduce waste in our landfills and promote the health of our planet.
As event chair Diane Browning said, “Appalachia has such a rich tradition of thrift and sustainability. As our grandmothers used to say, waste not, want not! It’s only fitting that we’re now seen as leaders and innovators of the sustainable fashion movement.”
Tickets are on sale now for the event, which includes admission, food, and drink. Earth Day Fashion Forward is an event to celebrate sustainable fashion and raise money for the Blue Skies Ahead Get-Out-The-Vote campaign.
Contestant entry form, tickets, and sponsorship opportunities are all available at edfashionforward.com. This is not a sponsored event of The Lewis.
