Dream Weaver Activity Center reopens

Dream Weaver Activity Center will reopen on May 22. Once again, the public is invited to come to 57 West Main Street, White Sulphur Springs, and enjoy a complete arcade of games as well as pool tables, air hockey, pinball, and a juke box. In addition, this year Dream Weaver will add “Flavor Burst,” a tastefully twisted ice cream cone in ten flavors, including chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, peach, bubble gum, butter pecan, tropical orange, cotton candy, and mocha cappuccino. You may also enjoy a delicious hot dog with many toppings, and a cold soda at the grill. Also new at Dream Weaver this spring is a Thrift Shop featuring gently used clothing for the whole family, as well as household and decorative items.

This summer, Dream Weaver will offer Heads Up!, an employment preparation program aimed at teenagers and other folks just entering the job market. The program is free and will assist participants in preparing job applications and resumes, will recommend appropriate interaction with fellow employees, and will advise on responding to interviews with potential employers, as well as other job skills.

Participants can develop their skills in counting money and using a cash register by volunteering in Dream Weaver’s retail shops. Dream Weaver’s shops include a thrift store, an ice cream shop, grill, a game arcade, car-detailing, and a cookie bake shop. This retail experience in a real-life setting could be the first entry on their resume. Depending on their interests, tours of certain job sites might be arranged for students.

Stop in and check out Dream Weaver when White Sulphur Springs celebrates the West Virginia Dandelion Festival on Memorial Day weekend. During the festival, the Center will be open from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. each day. “Throwback,” a band that specializes in golden oldies, will be performing free of charge at Dream Weaver Activity Center on Friday, May 22, from 8 until 11 p.m. Drop in for a tour of the facility, a delicious hot dog, or a refreshing ice cream cone and some toe-tapping music!
