Kentucky – Dorthy Mae Parsons “Mamaw,” 93, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at her daughter’s home in Tennessee. She was born and raised in Greenbrier County, where she met her husband, whom she married on Feb. 5, 1946.
Mamaw was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Myrtle Patterson; her brothers, Abe, Buford, and Bernard (Bunt); in addition to her husband, Harrison.
She is survived by her brother, Cherry (Jerry); and her children, Allen (Katrina), Lowell (Audrey), and Nancy (Tom); including her sister-in-law, Faye. Additionally, her grandchildren are Jeff (Denise), Jason (Terra), Benji (Stephanie), Matthew (Melissa), Travis (Lindsey), Erika (Marco), Randy and Emily (Whetsel). She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Jayelyn, Nick, Ian, Kenzie (Ben), Caden, Aynzli, Nickali, Lillith, Christopher, Ilyssa, Arien, Laryssa, Kaven, Lelyn, Courtney, Lucas and daughter Piper, Taryn and Addison, Gabriel, Riley, and Araceli.
She was a true matriarch of the community who cherished her friends, family, and neighbors, especially Archie (Rose) and Wanda (Johnny). She was a modest woman that witnessed dramatic change in her lifetime yet unpretentiously remained a sunny optimist.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date. The family asks in lieu of flowers that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
Blessed is she who has believed that the lord would fulfill his promises to her!
