Donald E. “Jack” Gwinn, 89, of Gaithersburg, MD, formerly of Alderson pas-sed away Monday, June 9, 2025, in Gaithersburg, MD.
He was born on Flat Mountain in Alderson, WV, to Mark Hill and Bessie Miller Gwinn.
Jack graduated from Alderson High School. He then moved to Gaithersburg where he worked for Montgomery County Public Schools as an HVAC mechanic until he retired. He was in the National Guard and honorably served in the US Air Force. After his retirement Jack pursued his passion for vintage cars. He and Etta met many enthusiasts who became friends though car shows.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his brother-in-law Carroll Willis.
Jack leaves behind his loving wife Etta Lane Phillips Gwinn who loved and cared for him through his illness, his son Don (Sandra) Gwinn; sister Jean Gwinn Willis; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made in Memory of Jack Gwinn to The Flat Mountain Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 777, Alderson, WV 24910.
