Letter to the Editor
Friends of the Greenbrier Valley Aquatic Center:
I hope this note finds each of you doing well and staying healthy and positive during these continued crazy times! It’s been more than a month since our last newsletter and I’m excited to share a number of wonderful updates.
As many of you have seen our friends at Lynch Construction have been hard at work on our development site. Over the next two months they will prepare the site, at ground level and below, for our structural work to build from. We’ve continued to work with Sons of Seibert Builders and Ceco Metal Systems to refine the details for our structural design. They remain on schedule to deliver the structural components and begin construction this fall. Our partners at National Pools of Roanoke have finalized our aquatic installation plans and stand ready to begin their work this winter once we are under roof.
The last major piece of the development puzzle is our General Contractor. We had four bids submitted by our June 18th deadline and after much review have chosen to work with Radford and Radford, Inc. from Beckley. They not only provided the lowest bid but are also 100% dedicated to being great partners for this wonderful community project. They also served as the General Contractor for the Student Center at WVSOM so they are no stranger to the Greenbrier Valley. TAG has spent hours with them and walked away impressed with their project history, goals and vision for the GVAC. We are working on refining a few details and look forward to officially introducing them as our General Contractor in the coming weeks.
Finally, thank you to the many FOUNDERS, CLOSERS and Naming Partners who’ve continued to send in payments towards their pledges. Everyone with an open pledge should have received a confirmation letter back in April reminding them of the July payment date, for those able. If you’ve not yet sent in your July CLOSER payment and are able to, we’d appreciate you addressing that in the coming weeks. If you are not in a position to remit payment now or have any other questions please feel free to let me know. We understand this pandemic has impacted many and are 100% supportive of working with you when the time is right!
Please stay tuned for more updates and photos on our Facebook page as progress continues on our development site. Until next time, I wish each of you the best and encourage you to continue to take care of yourselves and those around you!
All the best,
Jamie Hamilton
