Greenbrier County Schools has selected Deborah Fairchild to lead Alderson Elementary as the school’s new principal. Fairchild is excited to begin her 27th year in education in this new role when school starts on Aug. 22.
“Ms. Fairchild possesses the leadership qualities of compassion, fairness and understanding that will ensure the continued positive school climate and school culture that is embedded into the great heritage of Alderson Elementary School,” said Superintendent of Schools Jeff Bryant.
“She has earned a reputation as an educator who has the ability and personal motivation to elevate a school that personifies excellence. We are delighted that Deborah has joined our team,” Bryant continued.
Fairchild graduated from Concord College with a Bachelor’s in Education and earned two Master’s degrees, one in Special Education and the other in Public School Leadership Studies. In 2002, she earned National Board Certification as a Middle Childhood Generalist. Fairchild has served her career in Boone County, working as a teacher; instructional coach;personnel coordinator; and school administrator.
Fairchild said, “I am so excited to join Alderson Elementary and Greenbrier County Schools. I can’t wait to welcome our students and families back to school in a few weeks and am looking forward to a great year!”
Fairchild and her spouse, who have three grown children and five grandchildren, are excited to join the Alderson community and to be living at their “happy place “ on the Greenbrier River near Alderson.
