Fairlea-Dean D. Johnson, 78, passed away Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, at the Peyton Hospice House.
Born Oct. 7, 1941, in Tacoma, WA, he was the son of the late Maxine Peterson.
Dean was retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He served in the Vietnam War. He also retired from the Greenbrier Center in 1994. Dean was a member of the former Calvary Baptist Church in Lewisburg, a member of the VFW and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Johnson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Victoria Johnson; sons, Dennis Johnson (Nancy) of Union, and David Johnson (Shelley) of Covington, VA; daughter, Patricia Wiles of Fairlea; brother, Jack Johnson of Alaska; sister, Pat Griego (Jim) of Greeley, CO; grandchildren, Tata Merrill (Andrew), and Taylor and Abby Johnson; great-grandchildren, Evalet, Amelia and Dean Merrill; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 10, at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, Lewisburg, where Pastor Jonathan Comer officiated. Burial was in Morningside Cemetery, Renick.
Visitation was Sunday evening, Feb. 9, at the funeral home.
