Stamping Creek-David Andrew Sheppard, 64, passed away peacefully at his daughter Amanda’s home after a courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2020.
Born Oct. 17, 1955, in Lewisburg, he was the son of the late Leo Sheppard and Ruby Napier Sheppard.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Reynolds.
David grew up in West Virginia and graduated from Greenbrier East High School in 1975. After graduating he worked for Hanover Shoe Factory in White Sulphur Springs, then Greenbrier Motors as a mechanic. He moved to Texas with his family in 1981 and worked for Tidel Systems as a machinist. Working for Tidel was one of his favorite jobs. He returned to West Virginia in 1987 and worked at Hanover Shoe Factory in Marlinton then the lumber yard ITL. He enjoyed rifle and bow hunting, fishing, and gardening for most of his life. He attended Grace Baptist Church in Marlinton.
Survivors include his daughters, Hope Ann Sheppard and companion Darrell Obrient of Lewisville, TX, Alicia Hughes and companion Nick Greger of Lewisville, TX, Amanda (Rusty) Friend of White Sulphur Springs, and Heather Crowder of Lewisville, TX; brother, Leo (Debbie) Sheppard Jr. of Frankford; sisters, Mary Lou (Joe) Huffman of Peterstown and Loretta (Rodney) Boone of Frankford; grandchildren, Michael Hughes, Damarea Sheppard, Mackenzie Friend, Dominic Crowder, Dylan Hughes, Connor Friend, Collin Friend, and Desiree Mukwere; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services were held on Sunday, Aug. 9, where Pastor Caleb Barkley officiated the service. Private memorial will be held at a later date.
McCraw Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements.
