Acclaimed singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Cristina Vane will perform at the Pocahontas County Opera House on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m.
Known as one of the most compelling young voices in American roots music, Vane will bring her dynamic sound and extraordinary musicianship to the historic Marlinton venue for an unforgettable evening.
Born at the base of the Alps in Italy and raised across Italy, England and France, Vane draws on a rich blend of influences and heritage – half American, half Guatemalan – to create her distinctive sound. Her music weaves together strands of bluegrass, blues, rock and country, shaped by her experiences traveling and performing across the United States.
Rolling Stone has described Vane as “evocative of a young Bonnie Raitt and early PJ Harvey… entrancing stuff.” A virtuoso guitarist and captivating vocalist, she began writing songs and playing guitar as a teenager in London before refining her slide guitar and clawhammer banjo techniques in Los Angeles. After earning her degree from Princeton University, Vane honed her craft at the legendary McCabe’s Guitar Shop and later made Nashville her home base.
Her latest album, “Hear My Call,” showcases her expansive musical vision, blending roots traditions with modern storytelling. The project features collaborations with Mike Harris (Old Crow Medicine Show), Molly Tuttle and JD Simo. Vane has shared stages with legendary acts including Bob Weir, Wynonna Judd, Jerry Douglas, and Town Mountain, and her work has been featured by Rolling Stone Country, NPR, and in a Bank of America campaign for Ken Burns’ “Country Music” documentary.
Tickets for the all-ages performance are $10 for adults and free for attendees ages 17 and under, part of the Opera House’s mission to provide inclusive access to world-class music. Tickets are available online at pocahontasoperahouse.org, in person at the 4th Avenue Gallery in Marlinton, and at the door.
Located in the cultural heart of Marlinton, the Pocahontas County Opera House is a 250-seat historic theater that presents a diverse performance series celebrating local, national and international talent.
