Connie Ann Bowling, born on Nov. 14, 1953, in Clifton Forge, VA, left this earth on May 19, 2024, at Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, WV, after a seven-year battle with ovarian cancer.
She graduated from Greenbrier East High School in 1971 and then attended West Virginia University where she received her bachelor’s degree and her Master in Jurisprudence. After she left WVU, she went to work as a law clerk for Justice Darrell McGraw at the West Virginia Supreme Court and served as the Deputy Clerk for the West Virginia Supreme Court. Additionally, she worked for the Attorney General’s and Public Defender’s offices.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Chris, in 1998; her mother, Barbara, in 2003, and her father John in 2008. She was also preceded in death by four aunts and three cousins.
Connie is survived by two brothers, Jay (Gwen) and Bruce (Barb); one sister, Martha, and one dog, Maggie. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.
She served as the Kanawha Valley Chapter Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member numerous bridge, backgammon, and card game groups. She enjoyed traveling with her friends and family members and was a fierce advocate for women’s rights and animal safety.
Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street East, Charleton, WV.
Visitation will begin one hour prior at the funeral home.
