Lenten Tilapia Dinners continue in White Sulphur Springs
The traditional Lenten Tilapia Fish dinners, sponsored by the Greenbrier Valley Council 8689 Knights of Columbus, began last Friday in the White Sulphur Springs Center behind the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in downtown White Sulphur Springs.
“The culinary staff will be the same as in the past,” noted Grand Knight Andrew Wrzosek of Waitesville, who added it includes Chef Sue Moats of The Greenbrier Sweet Shop, Chef Paul Cicora of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic School, formerly of The Greenbrier; Deborah Fabry, retired Chef from The Greenbrier; and Bill Strange who started working the dinners from the first one, providing the desserts for the first year of the dinners back in the early 1990’s.
The menu is tilapia, scalloped potatoes, cole slaw, hard rolls, dessert, and drinks, all for only $15 a plate with an extra piece of fish $5. Children under 5 years old are served free and those aged between 5 to 12 may get the tilapia for $5 or the complete meal for $15.
“We are again offering eat in or to go between the hours of 4:30 and 7 p.m.,” reports Mike Williams, financial secretary for Council 8689 and noted that the dinners are being held to raise funds for community, youth, church and council projects serving the Pocahontas, Monroe, Greenbrier and eastern Fayette Counties area.
