First Saturday Services August 6 at Williamsburg Church
The first Saturday devotions and daily Mass will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 6, in the Catholic Church of Mary Immaculate near Williamsburg beginning at 10:30 a.m. A covered dish picnic lunch will be held on the grounds following the Mass. Built in 1902, the Church is observing its 120th anniversary serving the Irish and German Catholic populations of northern Greenbrier County and is the oldest Catholic Church building in Greenbrier County. From Lewisburg, the church can be reached by traveling US 219 north to Frankford and then west on the Frankford/Williamsburg Road to Catholic Church Road, a distance of 4.5 miles. From the Beckley area take I-64 East to the Alta Exit, then north on WV 20 to US 60 East and US 60 East about a block to Sinking Creek Rd. north to Williamsburg and the southeast on Frankford Rd. to Catholic Church Rd., a distance of about four miles. Neighbors of the church provide the upkeep of the cemetery and the church.
Annual Ketron Church and
Community Homecoming 1902-2022
Date: Sunday, Aug. 7, at 11 a.m.
Please join us once again to celebrate the legacy of Ketron Church, worship, and reunite with old friends. We hope that everyone has been safe from the COVID-19 virus this past year and that you are vaccinated and boosted. Masks will be available. The church is located on Rockland Road, 3 miles below Ronceverte. The speaker this year will be Al Morgan of Princeton. Following the worship service we will gather at the Frank Whanger Picnic Shelter for a pot-luck lunch and a brief business meeting. Everyone is invited to attend. Paper products and utensils will be provided. Please notify Karen West of any persons you would like added to the memorial list. Because the Homecoming was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID-19 and attendance at the reunion has been sparse, very few contributions have been received. Your donations for the upkeep of the church and mowing the cemetery are becoming more critical every year. If you have loved ones buried in the Ketron cemetery and cannot attend, please consider mailing a generous donation to Ketron Church in care of the Ketron treasurer at the address listed below. We look forward to seeing you! Stay safe! Treasurer, Karen West, P.O. Box 251, Ronceverte, WV 24970.
