The Grand Opening celebration for The Hub at Montwell Park in historic Lewisburg will be held Wednesday, Dec. 16. The doors at The Hub, a Connected Student Café and Smoothie Bar, will open for the community to join the festivities starting at 4 p.m. There will be a formal presentation about the Hub at 5:30 p.m. Please come and learn more about getting involved. The Hub is brought to you by High Rocks.
The event kicks off with an open mic session for youth musicians to showcase their talent, with a variety of food and beverages provided throughout the evening. Rivertown Gypsies will provide live entertainment from 6:15 -8 p.m., and there will be youth presentations of The Hub from 5:30 to 6:15.
This is an evening to celebrate the significance of opening The Hub to the residents of the Greenbrier Valley.“The Hub gives the kids of Greenbrier County a safe place to hang out, participate in cool programs like entrepreneurship and creative expressions, and be themselves” says Britt Huerta, program coordinator. During this grand opening The Hub will be collecting donations for operation cost and will have WV NIP (Neighborhood Investment Program) tax credits available for donations of $500 or more.
The Hub features games, live music and karaoke on Friday nights, a computer lab, free Wi-Fi, classes and programs, and homework support. In 14 months The Hub has welcomed over 200 kids and has handed out hundreds of free PB&J’s. The Hub is open Monday-Friday 3-8 p.m. and for more information follow The Hub on Facebook, Twitter or call 304-647-4994.
