Dear Editor:
It’s that “most wonderful time of the year” again. Christmas! A time to celebrate the birthday of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Had it not been for His birth we would have nothing to celebrate. I can speak for myself and many others I know when I say we don’t celebrate “Happy Holidays.” We celebrate the birthday of Christ and we still greet others with “Merry Christmas.”
The beautiful lights that are hung at this season can be a reminder of Christ, the true light. Mr. Justice has a yard full of lights and a shining star on the top of a tall pine tree which reminds me of the bright star that God used to guide the Wisemen to the baby Jesus, but my favorite of all is the “Happy Birthday, Jesus” sign because that’s the reason for the season. I would love to have one of those signs.
The Bible speaks of Jesus being the light of the world (John 1:9, 8:12, 9:5 and II Corinthians 4:6) to name a few, it also speaks about Christians letting the light of Jesus shine through us for others to see (Matthew 5:16). When we see the many lights that decorate so many homes may it remind us of Jesus, the light of the world. He is also the only true hope we have in this world so let’s bring the “Hope” of Christ to light at Christmas.
Let’s keep Christ in Christmas and if you have never invited Him into your life, whenever you do you’ll have the very best Christmas of all.
Christ, the “Hope” of the world.
God Bless and Merry Christmas.
