James. E. Johnson, a former WVU Extension Agent in Greenbrier County loved and supported the 4-H program by leaving a legacy gift of $25,000 to the Greenbrier County 4-H Foundation.
To honor Johnson and his generosity, the board of directors established a full annual scholarship for the Spirit of Camp award at each county camp to attend camp at Jackson’s Mill near Weston. The two scholarships are known as the Jimmy Johnson Spirit of Camp Award.
This year the recipient for younger camp was Luke Carola. Dylan Cole received the Spirit of Camp award for older camp.
The 4-H Foundation supports 4-Her’s in public speaking contests, awards and local camp scholarships, as well as funding for state and national 4-H trips and awards. To learn more about the Greenbrier 4-H Foundation, visit www.gvfoundation.org or call 304-645-5620.
