Carl Sylvester Simmons, Sr., 90, of Rainelle passed away on Monday evening, Feb. 16, 2026 at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley.
He was born on Dec. 23, 1935 at Fort Spring, WV; the son of the late Julian Sylvester Simmons and Myrtle Frances Hundley.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Ruth Jones Simmons; second wife, Reva Deloris Simmons, a daughter, Sherry Ann Simmons; a granddaughter, Emily Loudermilk; two brothers, Terry Simmons and Jimmy Simmons.
Carl was of the Apostolic faith. He had worked at the Meadow River Lumber Company, Rainelle Sewage Plant and was a coal miner. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved his dog, Gizmo.
Survivors are 7 daughters, Sheila (Mike) Knight of Flatwoods, WV, Charlene (Steve) Loudermilk of Quinwood, Sandra (Steven) McCoy of Leslie, Darlene (Jackie) Hoover of Summerfield, OH, Tammy Hanna of Rainelle, Robin (Allen) Martin of Rupert and Diana (David) Currence of Rupert; 2 sons, Ricky Simmons of Rainelle and Carl S. Simmons, Jr. of Rainelle; sisters, Jean Simmons of Hines, Barbara Bell of Rainelle, Brenda Goins of Sam Black Church, Mary Simmons of Kentucky and Linda Sloan of Hines; brothers, Ronnie Simmons of Virginia and Garry Simmons of Hines; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; extended family.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 20, at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville with Pastor Brady Ellis and Mr. Jackie Hoover officiating.
