Calvin Ray Withrow, age 67, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025, at the CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV. Born July 24, 1958, in Ronceverte, he was the son of the late Arleigh and Rosie Gabbert Withrow.
Calvin was a member of the Gap Mills United Methodist Church. He retired from the WV Department of Highways after working there for many years. Additionally, he was a retired firefighter for Union Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially hunting when he was able to. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one nephew, Christopher Baker.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 42 years, Shirley Crews Withrow; children, Eric Withrow and wife Garnett, Erica Edwards and companion Calvin Boothe, Barbara Vandegrift and husband Paul Jr., and Sheldon Sears and companion Ashley Sheilds; seven grandchildren, Sheldon Jr., Allie, Joseph, Haley, Audrina, Abby, and Eli; two great-grandchildren, Bethany and James; one brother, Carl Withrow and wife Michelle; one sister, Doris Baker and husband Rodney; and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, at Groves-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV, with Pastor Gene Fullen officiating. Burial will follow in the Carmel Cemetery, Gap Mills, WV. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
