Williamsburg Yard Sale upcoming

Williamsburg will host a Yard Sale on Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Williamsburg School parking lot. Spaces are free. Bring your own table or rent one for $5. Come see what goodies there are for sale. Contact 304-520-2196 with questions. 

Williamsburg Shooting Match

 Come join us for the Williamsburg Shooting Match that will be held Oct. 5. The second shooting match will be Oct. 21 beginning at 7 p.m. Match will be eight rounds, 12-gauge guns only. Full choke, .660 inch minimum. Screw in chokes must be from a recognized supplier (patented) and extend no more than 3 inches beyond original barrel. Barrel length 34” maximum. First Seven rounds @ $2.50 per shot, eighth round 50/50 @$7.50 per shot. Shooters must compete in the first 7 rounds in order to compete in the 8th round. 50/50 splatter match is $1 per chance between rounds – Cash prizes will be awarded. You do not need to be a shooter to win! Come early! Come Hungry! Delicious hot food and refreshments will be available starting at 5 p.m. Families welcomed; you don’t have to shoot to come get a meal! The match will be held at the Community Building, 6571 Shoestring, Trail, Williamsburg, WV. We hope to see you all there. Sponsored by a joint effort of the Williamsburg Community Action. Democratic Executive Committee

will have their next meeting Wednesday, Oct. 9, at 5:30 p.m. at the Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate office in downtown Lewisburg. The meeting is open to the public, and anyone who wants to help further Democratic values is welcome to attend.

Hawk Knob Harvest Festival 

set for October 19

On Saturday, Oct. 19, Hawk Knob Appalachian Hard Cider will host their annual Harvest Festival at the Cidery in Lewisburg from 12 noon to 9 p.m. There will be live music by Rambling Dan from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Distant Light from 4 to 5:30 p.m., and the Bing Brothers with Jake Krack from 6 to 8 p.m. Food will be available from Whole Hog BBQ with country sides at $18 per plate. There will also be an apple butter demonstration, apple pressing, and a kids fishing derby in the Hawk Knob pond.

Alderson Farmers Market

is held each Tuesday from 3 to 6 p.m. beginning May 7 – Oct. 29. They offer WIC, senior vouchers, carrot club for children, stretch, snap, and they accept credit cards (purchases must be $5 or more).

Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program vouchers available

The Greenbrier County Committee on Aging now has vouchers available for the 2024 Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.

Vouchers are available at the following locations:

  • Western Greenbrier Senior Center, 284 Greenbrier Street Rupert 304-392-5138. Monday through Friday 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.
  • Eastern Greenbrier Senior Center, 150 Taylor Lane Fairlea 304-645-1978. Monday through Friday. 8 to 10 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.

Must be at least 60 years of age and meet income guidelines. Bring ID with proof of age.

Veteran’s Memorial Museum 

of Southern West Virginia, 419 Ballangee Street, Hinton, WV, is open Saturdays 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.. Call 304-466-4443 for more information or to schedule a tour.
