Attention flood volunteers
Do you want to use your skills to volunteer to assist residents that have been affected by flooding in Greenbrier County? Or does your volunteer group need volunteers to help? The Volunteer Mobilization Center can match volunteers with skills with agencies that need volunteers to help them. Sunny Summer Toys and Snacks
Wellspring of Greenbrier announces its annual Sunny Summer Toys and Snacks event, July 26, 27 and 28 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at 524 Nicholas Street (Rt. 60) in Rupert. There will be toys and snacks for children of preschool and elementary school ages. Parents must be present and register at the front desk.
Williamsburg Thrift Shop
is having a $1 bag sale for July and August to help with the needs of the area. Hours and days open are Mondays 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Fridays 5-7 p.m., and Saturdays 10 a.m.-12 noon. The Thrift Shop will be open during the Williamsburg Community Fair Saturday, July 30, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Items in the Thrift Shop are books, household items, shoes, clothes from infants to 5X. Tetanus shots
The Greenbrier County Department of Health still has tetanus vaccine available at the Health Department in Fairlea free of charge for anyone that has been or will be working in the flood waters and/or debris. Available weekdays from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and 1-4 p.m. If it has been more than five years since your last Tetanus shot, and you are working in the flood waters and/or debris, a booster dose is needed.
Flood debris notice
As Greenbrier County contractors continue to remove debris from affected homes and areas, it is important to note that only flood-related debris can and will be removed by the contractors and accepted at temporary dumpsites. Anyone bringing debris to a temporary dumpsite that is not flood-related will be directed to the Greenbrier County Landfill. Additionally, debris and construction materials being removed from structures by paid private contractors will not be picked up by Greenbrier County contractors or be allowed at temporary dumpsites. This debris must be taken directly to the Greenbrier County Landfill.
American Heritage Music Hall
needs volunteer help
American Heritage Music Hall at Island Park, 315 Monroe Avenue, Ronceverte, is closed due to flooding June 23 and 24. We need volunteers to help us clean up the flood damage. Attorney General Mobile Office hours
Consumer representatives from the Attorney General’s Office will hold public events during July throughout central and southeastern West Virginia. The office representative will educate consumers on the latest scams in their area, provide tips on how to guard their personal information and answer questions about consumer protection settlements. Local events are: • July 25: 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Presentation at Eastern Greenbrier Commission on Aging, 110 Taylor Lane, Fairlea • July 28: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Mobile Office Hours at Lewisburg City Hall, 942 Washington Street, Lewisburg. Greenbrier Artists exhibit
Greenbrier Artists will join the Lewisburg Literary Festival to celebrate reading and art by creating paintings based on the written word. The exhibit is held at the Greenbrier Valley Visitors Center on East Washington Street in Lewisburg. This year’s exhibit, “Paintings from Poems!” will open Aug. 5. The reception will be held from 5-8 p.m. as part of First Fridays after Five. The artists will show works that have been inspired by poems written by the artists or by their family members.
GC Circuit Riders meet at Shoney’s
If you ride a motorcycle and would like to integrate your passion for riding with your passion for spreading the Word of God you might be interested in the Christian Motorcyclist Association. The Greenbrier Valley Circuit Riders is a well-established Chapter that has been going strong and growing for the past 15 years. We invite you to our monthly meetings at Shoney’s in Lewisburg the first Tuesday of every month at 7 o’clock. We typically discuss upcoming rides, evangelistic ministry opportunities and enjoy fun and fellowship with our members.
