Corned Beef & Cabbage Dinner
Come celebrate a St. Patrick’s Day tradition of Corned Beef & Cabbage with a benefit dinner sponsored by the Local Modern Woodmen to benefit Williamsburg Food Pantry. The dinner will be held from 1-5 p.m. on Mar. 12 at the Williamsburg Community Center in Williamsburg. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children under 12 years. The menu features our famous corn pone, corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, choice of rolls or corn pone, dessert and tea or coffee. Alderson 4th of July Celebration fundraiser
Alderson 4th of July Celebration fundraiser is slated for Sunday, Mar. 13, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Alderson Community Center. Burnout Pit BBQ will provide pork barbecue with slaw, hash brown casserole, baked beans, dessert and drink for $10 for adults and $5 for children under 10. Call 304-667-7817 for take-out orders.

Dining with diabetes
The Greenbrier County WVU Extension Service will present Dining with Diabetes Cooking School Mar. 15 and 22 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. at the Greenbrier Committee on Aging in Rupert. This program is for diabetics and their caregivers and anyone who wants to learn more about diabetes. The class is free, but registration is required. New recipes, samples and working demonstrations are a part of each session, plus there will be an educational lesson by a certified health educator. Get your “spring” on at Wellspring of Greenbrier, 524 Nicholas Street, Rupert. Clothing event dates: Mar. 15, 16, 17 – Teen Girls & Women’s spring/summer clothing (most sizes); Mar. 22, 23, 24 – Teen Boy’s & Men’s spring/summer clothing (most sizes). Wellspring of Greenbrier, Inc. is a nonprofit organization assisting low income, transient, homeless and disadvantaged people of Greenbrier County since 2004.
Newcomers and Old Friends Club to meet
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Newcomers and Old Friends Club, a local women’s club, will occur Tuesday, Mar. 15, at 7 p.m., at the home of Ellen Horne. National Alliance on Mental Illness
(NAMI) monthly support group will meet Thursday, Mar. 17, at 6 p.m. at the St James Episcopal Church on the lower level on Court Street. Agenda will be depression in children. Depression in children is a real mental illness, needing treatment the same as in the adult population. Although we are still learning about depression in children, this will be an opportunity to discuss the challenges that are faced when considering our youth. Please come and bring a friend. ‘Sit & Sew’ at LUMC
The Alderson Quilters & Crafters club will have a “Sit & Sew” event Monday, Mar. 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lewisburg United Methodist Church. Participants can either bring their own project to work on or take part in a Maple Leaf and Courthouse Step class taught by Debbie Weikle. The class is free. Organ Cave organizational meeting
An organizational and planning meeting to begin the 2016 season will be held at the Organ Cave Community Center Tuesday, Mar. 22 in the dining room at 7 p.m. (Look for signs in the event the meeting may be moved to one of the classrooms.) GV Circuit Riders meet at Shoney’s
If you ride a motorcycle and would like to integrate your passion for riding with your passion for spreading the Word of God you might be interested in the Christian Motorcyclist Association. The Greenbrier Valley Circuit Riders is a well-established Chapter that has been going strong and growing for the past 15 years. We invite you to our monthly meetings at Shoney’s in Lewisburg the first Tuesday of every month at 7 o’clock. We typically discuss upcoming rides, evangelistic ministry opportunities and enjoy fun and fellowship with our members. Our annual fundraiser ride called Run for the Son is coming up the first Saturday in May (May 7), so stay posted for details.
