Blueberry Season in full swing in the Greenbrier Valley

Blueberry season is peaking at several locations in Greenbrier County, with farms welcoming guests for a limited window of fresh, locally grown blueberry picking. Families, foodies, and fruit lovers are invited to enjoy the taste of summer straight from the source this blueberry season.

The 2025 season began just in the last week or two, and will continue through late July, depending on weather and harvest conditions. Several farms in the region offer both you-pick and pre-picked options.

White Oak Farm, located at 1700 Brownstown Road in Renick, is one of the area’s most popular you-pick destinations. The farm is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and 4 to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. They are closed Wednesdays and Sundays. Buckets and bags are provided on-site. Make sure to call ahead or check their social media before heading out, as they occasionally alter their standard hours to help pickers beat the heat. (Last week, hours were 7 a.m. to 12 noon, then 6 to 8 p.m. during the heat wave.) Call 304-497-3577 or visit “White Oak Farm” on Facebook, or www.whiteoakberryfarm.com for more information.

Just down the road is Friendly Goat Fruit Farm, located at 2901 Julia Road in Renick, which has also opened its fields for picking. Morning and evening hours are available, with last week’s hours being from 7 a.m. to 12 noon then 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and then 7 a.m. to 12 noon and 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday (closed Sundays). Guests are advised to check the farm’s Facebook page for updates on their picking hours, and for directions. Call 304-497-2005 or visit “Friendly Goat Fruit Farm” on Facebook for more information.

It’s recommended to arrive early in the day to avoid extreme temperatures, dress for summer weather, and to bring sunscreen and water. Picking is a family-friendly activity and a fun way to support local farmers while enjoying the freshest fruit of the season.

For more information or to plan your visit, contact participating farms directly or follow their social media pages for the latest updates.
