Barbara A. Dailey, 86, of Ronceverte passed away at her home in Ronceverte.
Barbara was born Apr. 19, 1939, in Petersburg, WV to the late Reba Green Hammond and George Bryan. Barbara was raised by her loving grandmother Hettie Jane Green and was of the Baptist Faith.
Barbara worked as a legal secretary for the Greenbrier County Prosecuting Attorney’s office under Edgar L. Smith and Ralph E. Hayes. She retired at the age of 79 as a paralegal working for Steve and DeEtta Hunter in Lewisburg, WV.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Harold Dean Dailey; son, Timothy Allen Dailey; son-in-law, John Morgan Gibson; nephew, Timothy John (T.J.) Pridemore; and numerous aunts and uncles she grew up with that treated her like a baby sister.
She is survived by her daughters, Penny (Bob) Grillo of McArthur, OH, Mary Dailey of Ronceverte, and Melody (Chuck) Howard of Ronceverte; grandchildren, Timothy (L.T.) Shieler, Kaitlin (Aaron) Eberts, Corey Howard, Andrew Grillo, Kayla (Trevor) Smith, and Molly Howard; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Daxton, Emma, Olivia, Easton, Grady and Jude; Tim’s life partner, Dan Bower; half-sisters, Judy (Gary) Hughes of Penney Farms, FL and Connie Pridemore of Westerville, OH; nephew, Jason Clauss. She also leaves behind her fur-babies, Izzy and Kit Kat.
Barbara loved to sew and make beautiful things for herself and for others. She would sew into the wee hours making majorette and Golden Girl uniforms, sometimes having to make the patterns herself. She selflessly donated her time and talent to these projects. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting and just making anything with her hands.
Growing up she learned to garden and can, skills that she put to good use feeding her family of six. Her homemade applebutter was the “worlds best” according to her children and grandchildren.
Two of her proudest accomplishments were earning her paralegal certification via a correspondence course and in 2007 her real estate license.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Greenbrier County Humane Society, 151 Holliday Lane, Lewisburg, WV 24901 or Peyton Hospice House, Hospice Care, 1606 Kanawha Blvd W., Charleston, WV 25387, hospicecarewv.org/make-a-donation/
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte with Pastor John Groves officiating. Burial will follow at the McLean Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
