The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration was held on Martin Luther King Jr. Day this past Monday, and was well-attended despite frigid temperatures throughout the region this week. Attendees gathered outside the Greenbrier County Courthouse in balmy nine-degree weather to hear from several speakers before making their traditional march up to the Lewisburg United Methodist Church across town, and traffic was blocked by members of the Lewisburg Police Department for the procession. Roughly 70 participants sang “Ain’t Gonna let Nobody Turn Me ‘Round” by The Freedom Singers while marching up Washington Street. Upon arrival at LUMC, walkers were greeted with a luncheon before the program was held at the church.
