The United Way of the Greenbrier Valley will host its fourth annual Empty Bowls event on Thursday, Nov. 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in a new location, the Roland P. Sharp Alumni Center at WVSOM (400 North Lee Street, Lewisburg).
This family-friendly, community-minded event raises awareness and much-needed funds to address the issue of hunger in our area. United Way supports local food pantries and collaborates with local food services programs such as Gwen’s Meal and Meals on Wheels. Proceeds from Empty Bowls will help support those services.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.UnitedWayGreenbrier.org/EmptyBowls for $25 or at the door for $35. With your ticket you will receive one locally handcrafted pottery bowl of your choosing, soup, bread, drink, and dessert. Local potters have generously donated their work (soup-size bowls) to this cause and local businesses and members of the community have generously donated the delicious food. A silent auction will also take place during the evening highlighting local artists’ work. Come on in from the cold and get a warm bowl of soup and a beautiful piece of pottery to take home!
Thank you to our potters; soup, bread, drink, and dessert donors; West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine; Carnegie Hall, WV; Davis Stuart; silent auction contributors; and the Empty Bowls committee & volunteers for making this event possible!
This year’s event is generously sponsored by Greenbrier Valley Medical Center and Summit Community Bank. Thank you for your support!
