White Sulphur Springs-Annie May Godfrey, 87, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea.
Born in Eagle Rack, VA, on Nov. 10, 1928, she was a daughter of the late James and Hazel White Robinson.
Annie was a member of the Jackson Memorial Church of God in Christ in Iron Gate, VA, was a missionary, and was a certified nursing assistant.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Godfrey in 1989; and children, Norman, Roy and Barbara; brothers, Frank, Robert “Bob” and William Robinson; and brother-in-law, Clarence “Chappy” Allen.
Survivors include: children, Odessa M. Godfrey, Stewart, Frank, Timothy and Gillie Godfrey, all of White Sulphur Springs; ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a close niece, Valerie Wanson; brothers, Loyd Ray Robinson (Kathleen), Raymond Robinson, Thomas Robinson and Charles Robinson; sisters, Shirley Flower, Catherine Cook, Hazel Allen and Lucille Beverly (David); and dear friend, Pinky O’Neil.
Services were conducted on Wednesday, Mar. 2, at the Jackson Memorial Church of God in Christ in Iron Gate, VA, where Rev. Delawrence Godfrey, Pastor Kathie Holland and Michael Beverly officiated. Interment was in the Mount Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery at Glen Wilton, VA.
Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the church. Friends called at Shanklin Funeral Home Tuesday, Mar. 1.
