Lewisburg – Andrea Victoria “Vickie” Roane passed peacefully Sunday, June 21, 2020, at the Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston, WV, surrounded by family.

Vickie was born Mar. 5, 1951, in Lewisburg to the late Norman W. Roane and Lillye E. Roane. She was proceeded in death by her grandparents Joseph and Mary Chambers, Uncle Harry Chambers (Aunt Marion), Uncle William Roane, Aunt Beulah “Baboo” Lowe, and cousin Patricia Hopkins.

Educated in the Greenbrier County School system, she attended Bolling School and graduated from Greenbrier East High School. Soon after graduation she began her career at the Osteopathic Medical School where she retired after 41 years. Vickie was a lifelong member of John Wesley United Methodist Church. She began playing the piano for the church at the tender age of 14. She loved the church and served in various positions throughout her life. Vickie’s love of music and people, was evident on Sunday mornings as she played the piano and we hoped she would not fall off the bench in her excitement. Each year she worked tirelessly to create a celebratory atmosphere as she planned the Church Anniversary, Christmas and Easter programs.

Her great joy was inviting (telling) people to sing even when they didn’t think they could. From the Men’s chorus to the children’s Praise choir, Vickie pulled people in the community together to offer their gifts in amazing ways. Her faith and love of God was evident in the work she did and the relationships that she fostered with her beloved Lewisburg community.

Vickie always had a smile and that smile with dimples lit up a room. She was a friend to all she met. She was an animal lover and always seemed to choose animals that needed extra TLC. Family was important! She was a wonderful big sister, aunt, cousin, and niece. Holidays were her favorite time of year. Her house was a reflection of every season from the inside out. Anyone who visited the house the corner of Oak Street entered a holiday wonderland. Vickie lived fully and loved fully all whose lives touched hers.

Left to cherish her memory: Aunt “Kitty” and Uncle Sack Mary Crump (Charles); niece, Rev. Sharletta Green; brother, Vincent Roane (margaret); nephews, George Ashton III (Monique), Dr. Randolph Ashton (Dr. Lydia), Joseph Roane (Shannon); great-nephews and nieces, Andrew, Sydney, Conrad, and Jordan Ashton, Aunt Lucille Roane, Cousin Sheila Roane, Aunt Mattie Roane, Cousin Linda Callahan (Larry), Alexander and Austin, siblings (The Williams and Moats Family), devoted friends, Milletta Seams (mike) and the entire Seams family, her John Wesley United Methodist Church family and a host of beloved friends.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to John Wesley United Methodist Church or Lewisburg Cemetery Fund.

We the family of Vickie Roane, sincerely thank each of you for your prayers, love, support, cards, any act of kindness you offered during our time of grief. Our words may not convey fully the gift we have received in this season from the outpouring of care and concern for our family. Know that our lives and our pain have been touched and we are forever grateful. May God richly bless you and keep you.

McCraw Funeral Home of Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements.

*A virtual memorial service will be held at a later date.
