In November, the post donated both funds and paper goods to the local food bank located within the Old Stone Presbyterian Church. This Food Bank provides donations to approximately 180 families per month and, also, delivers to 3 housing apartment complexes in Lewisburg.

We would like to invite “Every” veteran and their family living in the local area to our Legion Post on the afternoon of Dec. 13, for the annual Army-Navy Football game. We have a Big Screen TV, 2 dartboards and will have a variety of “Super Bowl” type food, snacks and soft drinks. It will be a great time to interact with fellow veterans, maybe finding that this would be a great place to have a permanent outlet for fellowship. The game starts at 3 p.m. but we will start gathering at 2 p.m. Please come join a great group of Veterans that have a lot in common.

  • The members of American Legion Post 69 have been busy providing community service to our local area. Back in June, the post sponsored three young rising seniors to attend The West Virginia American Legion Boys State. It is located at Jackson’s Mill and is West Virginia’s premier leadership experience for these young men from around our state.
  • The Post made a great appearance at the 1-64 (W) Visitors Center on Independence Day. Coffee, cookies and donuts were provided to travelers who were very appreciative.
  • WVSF Big Flea Market of the year was a huge success at the Fairgrounds and the Post was set up at the entrance. Many interested buyers stopped by to visit and helped support their endeavors with either a donation or a purchase of a raffle ticket for a Henry Rifle.
  • The Post set up a membership table at the Veteran’s breakfast and ceremony at Greenbrier East High School on Nov. 6. We were able to receive interest from approximately 12 local veterans that were interested in joining our local post.
  • Each year, our post presents award to 2 deserving seniors from the student body and 2 awards to members of the JROTC.
