Allyne May Chinault, age 97, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2024, in Raleigh, NC, following a brief illness.
Allyne was born on July 21, 1927, to the late John Vanvenum and Bessie May (Keyes) Boggs of McRoss, WV.
Allyne graduated from Rainelle High School in 1944 and was manager of the Western Union Telegraph Company office in Rainelle for several years. She married Haven L. Chinault of McRoss in February 1948. They moved to Peterstown, WV, in 1951, and she became a full-time mother and homemaker. Allyne was a member of the Peterstown Missionary Baptist Church and the Monroe County Homemakers Club. She enjoyed crafts, quilting, sewing, hiking, camping and traveling with her husband. After the death of her husband of 65 years in 2013, Allyne relocated to Cary, NC, to be near family.
Allyne was preceded in death by her husband Haven, her son Craig (Barbie) of Derwood, MD; sisters Christine Trout and Hazel Crane; brothers, Beryl Boggs, John V. Boggs, Jr. and Bernard Clifton Boggs.
Survivors include sons Neil (Chuckie) of Cary, NC, and Dale of Cornelius, NC; six granddaughters, Lisa Schreiner (Brandon) of Willow Spring, NC, Sharon Young (Jeff) of Lake St. Louis, MO, Lauren Chinault of Baltimore, MD, Alena Chinault of New York, NY, Diana Adams (Logan) of Fayetteville, NC, and Melissa Rohlen (Jake) of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren, Sydney Schreiner, Bryson Schreiner, Adam Young, Alissa Young and Evelyn Branton.
Graveside services will be held on Nov. 23, 2024, at the Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Sam Black Church, WV, at 2 p.m.
