The Alderson Community Food Hub (ACFH) Board of Directors met on May 31 and voted to close the Alderson Green Grocer effective Sunday, June 18, due to chronic deficits in income.
ACFH thanks everyone who worked so hard to create the Green Grocer, and everyone who took time to shop in the Green Grocer over the past few years.
ACFH will continue its mission to connect producers with consumers, provide access to nutritious food, foster community participation, and cultivate an awareness of sustainable food systems in the Greenbrier Valley.
Other ACFH projects include a community market every Sunday at Alderson’s Visitor Center on Riverview Avenue, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., with vendors selling local produce and meat, as well as baked goods, plants, herbal products, and crafts; a school garden at Alderson Elementary; and a community garden.
