White Sulphur Springs-Ada Grey Ayres, 83, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, with her family by her side.
She was born Ada Grey Wyatt on Feb. 5, 1932, in Friars Hill, to the late John Stewart and Nora Marie Wyatt.
She attended school in Williamsburg and Fairmont State University.
Ada, better known as “Grey” or “Nan” was a devoted member of the Alvon United Methodist Church. Grey was a loving mother and housekeeper. She was also a surrogate mother to many families by baby-sitting their children.
Later in her life, Grey worked for The Greenbrier Hotel and enjoyed her job for 19 years.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Tyres “Ham” Ayres; father, John Stewart Wyatt; her mother, Nora Marie Wyatt; and two siblings, Coleta Ann Wahl and John Stewart “Dickie” Wyatt.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are: her daughters, Elaine Hollandsworth (Neil), Shirley Lynch (Johnny), Susan Ayres and Karen Lee (John); grandchildren, Justin White (Libby), Lade Nicole Lynch, John Adam Lynch (Amanda) Corie Ann Lynch, Hattie Grey Lynch, John Joseph Lee, Tyler Greyson Lee and Patrick William Lee; great-grandchildren, Nora and Neely Deviney, Ryan and Nelson Lynch and Ada Claire White.
Her funeral service was held on Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Alvon United Methodist Church in White Sulphur Springs, where Pastor Bobby McClintic, Pastor Buck Caldwell and Robert McClintic officiated. Internment followed in Mapledale Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs.
The family received friends before the service on Wednesday.
