A cherished community member and longtime girls softball coach, Bruce Callsion, of Renick is battling a rare stomach cancer. Callison, a devoted father of three daughters, is being honored with a Ham and Bean Dinner fundraiser.
The event will be held from 2 until 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the Frankford Elementary School.
Registration for a Corn Hole Tournament will begin on the same day at 10 a.m. There is a $20 entry fee for the tournament, which will begin at 11 a.m.
Raffle tickets are for sale at $10 each or three for $20. Donated raffle prizes include a Galloway golf club, golfing package from the Elks Club, used ATV, quilts and a shotgun.
Other items for sale to raise money include T-shirts, periwinkle and cat-eye awareness bracelets, window decals for Team Bruce and Seneca Trail 4-H Club awareness ribbons.
All money raised will help offset expensive travel costs for treatment in Roanoke, VA and in Ohio.
Organizers wish to thank all volunteers and businesses who have donated to the fundraising efforts. More information about participating is available by liking the Facebook page, Dinner and Cornhole Tournament Benefit for Bruce Callison and Family, or by calling Teresa Hodge at 304-497-3767.
