Alma Jean Bonner Hoke, 83, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, at the CAMC General Hospital in Charleston, WV. Born Nov. 5, 1942, in Union, WV, she was the daughter of the late Everette and Cordelia Caldwell Dunbar.
Alma Jean worked as a medical records clerk for Greenbrier Valley Medical Center and other hospitals and doctor’s offices in the area. She loved God and enjoyed gardening, shopping, and watching soap operas. She was a beloved grandmother, sister, stepmother, aunt, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hoke; daughter, Vicky Wagner; stepdaughter, Anita Wickline; sister, Mavis Lippincott; brother, Fred Raymond Dunbar; and brothers-in-law, Eddie Lafon, Bill Ford, and Chester Terry.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Brittany Bonner, G.W. Wagner, Isadora Wagner, and Michelle Skaggs; sisters, Rachel Lafon Dreher (Bill), Wanda Ford, Mildred Bennett, and Eleanor Terry; brothers, Norval Dunbar (Jenny), Donald Dunbar (Connie), and Ronald Dunbar (Velleda); sister-in-law, Doris Dunbar; stepchildren, Emory Hoke, Wayne Hoke, and Diane Hoke; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at the Oak Grove Cemetery on Gates Road, Union, WV, with Pastor Todd Baker officiating.
