Celebrate the Season with the Greenbrier Valley Chorale

Russell Falstad will perform at the Greenbrier Valley Chorale’s annual Holiday Concert.

Director Barbara Lutz has planned a wonderful program of seasonal music for the Greenbrier Valley Chorale’s annual Holiday Concert on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 3 p.m. at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg.

The first half of the program will feature Magnificat, a five-movement work by celebrated choral composer Taylor Scott Davis. Inspired by “The Song of Mary,” this work accompanied by a chamber orchestra and sung in English and Latin, reflects Mary’s humility and proclaims hope to the downtrodden. Appearing with the chorale are soprano Jordan Stadvec from Concord University and special guest artist, eminent violinist and teacher Russell Fallstad.

The second half of the program will feature two additional pieces accompanied by the chamber orchestra: the transcendent Ecce Novum by Ola Gielo and Dan Forrest’s awe-inspiring arrangement of Silent Night.

Among the pieces rounding out the program are audience favorites including Go Tell it on the Mountain and Go Where I Send Thee. Fallstad will return to the stage as the violin soloist on Shawn Kirchner’s jubilant arrangement of Brightest and Best.

The Greenbrier Valley Chorale is made up of 60 singers from across the Greenbrier Valley and beyond. With a tradition of inspiring choral music going back more than 30 years, the choir is known for its broad-ranging repertoire and high quality performances. Last year, they were honored to be a part of the phenomenal production of The Hunchback of Notre Dame in collaboration with Greenbrier Valley Theater and Carnegie Hall. Barbara Wygal Lutz is the group’s founding artistic director, and Teresa Bryant is the accompanist.

Tickets are available at the Carnegie Hall Box Office, 611 Church Street, Lewisburg, by calling 304-645-7917, or through the Carnegie Hall website at www.carnegiehallwv.org. Carnegie Hall is ADA compliant. Patrons with disabilities are encouraged to contact Carnegie Hall in advance if assistance is required.
