A No Kinds Rally is planned for Oct. 18 in the Green Space in downtown Lewisburg. Participants are encouraged to bring items to support local food pantries, especially those not covered by SNAP benefits.

Community members are invited to gather in downtown Lewisburg on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 4 p.m. for the No Kings Rally, an event celebrating democracy, free speech, and peaceful civic engagement.

In addition to the rally, participants are encouraged to bring household items to support local food pantries, especially those not covered by SNAP benefits, such as paper products, cleaning supplies, and personal hygiene items.

The event will highlight the importance of exercising our First Amendment rights, which protect freedom of speech and the right to assemble peacefully. Attendees are encouraged to wear something yellow, a color recognized around the world as a symbol of nonviolent resistance. Participants are welcome to bring their own signs or flags; a limited number of flags and signs will also be available at the event.

Keynote Speaker will be Danielle Walker, former West Virginia Delegate and well-known activist from Monongalia County, joined by Brit Aguirre, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in West Virginia’s 1st Congressional District.

“The No Kings Rally is about standing together as neighbors and citizens to affirm that in America, power belongs to the people,” organizers said. “We look forward to a peaceful, positive gathering that reminds us of what unites us.”

The rally is free and open to the public. All are welcome to attend.
