Hawk Knob Appalachian Hard Cider will host its annual Harvest Fest on Sunday, Oct. 12, beginning at noon at the cidery in Lewisburg.
The yearly event is designed as a community gathering to celebrate Appalachian culture in Southern West Virginia. Visitors will be able to take part in traditional activities such as apple butter making and fresh cider pressing throughout the day.
In partnership with the Greenbrier River Fly Fishing Classic, a nonprofit organization, Harvest Fest will also feature a free children’s fishing derby at the Hawk Knob Pond.
The day’s schedule includes:
- 12 noon Gates open, apple butter stirring and cider pressing begin.
- 1 p.m. Food buffet opens and kids’ fishing derby begins.
- 2 p.m. Live music with Paul E. Johnson.
- 3 p.m. Pumpkin decorating.
- 4 p.m. Headline music performance by Tessa McCoy and the Big Possum String Band.
Additional activities will include a bounce house for children, cornhole, pumpkin ring toss and giant tic-tac-toe.
The Hawk Knob Kitchen will provide a variety of food options, including a soup buffet, pulled pork with fixings and additional offerings.
Admission to Harvest Fest is free and open to the public.
