To make the State Fair of WV extra special and sweet this year as we celebrate the 100th year of the Fair, the Maxwelton Ruritan Club proclaims Monday, Aug. 11 as Ice Cream for Breakfast Day.

The Proclamation reads:

“The Maxwelton Ruritan Club Proclaims Monday, Aug. 11, as Ice Cream for Breakfast Day at our concession stand during the State Fair of WV! Although this is an unofficial proclamation, we cannot think of a better way to start your day!

Whereas, we know that the celebration of Ice Cream for Breakfast Day is typically recognized in February, but the State Fair happens only in August. We wanted to spread some joy and bring some happiness to those attending the Fair and create a happy start to the day!!

Therefore, during the morning hours of Monday, Aug. 11, you can enjoy your bowl of ice cream sprinkled with your choice of Cocoa Krispies, Apple Jacks or Fruity Peebles at no additional cost. Just imagine how delicious your cereal will taste after soaking up all the awesome flavor of whichever ice cream you choose. A scoop of chocolate with Cocoa Krispies? A double scoop of butter pecan with Apple Jacks? Yes, please!

Come join us for your Ice Cream for Breakfast on Monday, Aug. 11 at our Ice Cream Concession Stand. You have our permission.”

The Ruritan’s ice cream concession stand is located by the North Gate beside the cattle barns. They are open every day during the fair from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. All workers are volunteers so we ask for your patience in advance on our busy days.

The Maxwelton Ruritans have been volunteering scooping ice cream at the State Fair of WV for almost 40 years. All proceeds stay in the community and go towards scholarships for high school seniors, local Fire Departments, Shop with a Cop, Greenbrier Pregnancy Center, HOSA and many more worthy causes. The club also purchased fire hydrants for installation in the Maxwelton area over the past four years for a total of eight fire hydrants. The club also participates in Adopt A Highway and maintains the flower beds at the Maxwelton Post Office and 911 Center.
