Leslie “Jack” Hunter, 84, of Alderson peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on Sept. 9, 1940, in Slab Fork, WV, a son of the late Roy Wilson and Elinor “Wessie” Louise (McCallister) Hunter.

Jack graduated from Alderson High School in 1958. He later worked in the grocery industry and as an auto body technician for many years. He was also a member of the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church.  He loved the Lord and shared the love of Jesus with everyone.  He will be remembered for his love of farming, especially his horses, but most of all spending time with his family and friends.

Jack is survived by the love of his life of 64 years, Willa Carolyn (Lemons) Hunter. He is also survived by his children, Roderick W. “Rod” Hunter, Shannon L. Hunter, Lorie L. Hunter Boswell and her husband Jimmy, all of Alderson; his grandchildren, Josh Boswell and wife Miranda, Kaitlyn Wakeford and husband Ryan, Zach Boswell, Daniel Boswell and wife Haylee, all of Alderson, Katie Hunter, of Clarksburg, Kelsie Buchanan and husband Craig, of Lewisburg, Jordyn Hunter and fiancé Addison, of Fairmont; 12 great-grandchildren, Lydia McNeely, Rallyn Boswell, Loralye Boswell, Ashlyn Blevins, Hunter Blevins, Cain Wakeford, Rayfe Wakeford, Audrey Tantillo, Gabe Tantillo, Riley Level, Warner and Rhenon Buchanan; and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Russell “Rusty” Hunter and James Melvin Hunter, and his sisters-in-law, Patty (Bryant) Hunter and Nancy (McCormick) Hunter

In keeping with his wishes, Jack will be cremated, and the family will have a memorial service at a later date.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to two very special people who provided medical care to Jack – Dr. Steve Schulman and Dr. Don Wood. We would also like to thank Home Care Plus of Lewisburg for their compassionate care.

From his Children:

Thank you for being a wonderful dad, a best friend and for your belief in God. Trusting him in your everyday life, being an example to us. And your witness of 1st Corinthians 15:1-5. It states that He died for our sins, he was buried and rose again according to the scriptures. You ministered this in your life to us. Thank you, Dad, for your faith.  We love you.

Lobban Funeral Home is honored in being entrusted with the arrangements.

Condolences and memories may be shared with Hunter online at www.lobbanfh.com
