Liz Reynolds (center) joins Wellspring’s leadership team, allowing directors to focus on strategic expansion and community programs.

Wellspring of Greenbrier, a nonprofit dedicated to meeting the essential needs of Greenbrier County residents, has announced the hiring of Liz Reynolds as its new Operations Manager. The appointment comes as the organization experiences unprecedented growth in services, outreach, and community impact.

Over the past two and a half years, Abigail and Josiah Spangler, a local couple, have assumed leadership of Wellspring following the retirement of founders Scarlett and Fred Kellerman. Under the Spanglers’ direction, the organization has seen a dramatic increase in meals served, facility usage, and volunteer involvement. As Wellspring now looks ahead to a new phase of growth – including the development of a larger facility and the launch of expanded programs – Reynolds’ role will be vital.

“Wellspring is at a turning point,” said Abigail Spangler, Executive Director. “We’ve built strong momentum, but sustaining and growing our services requires dedicated operational oversight. Liz brings the perfect mix of experience, vision, and heart.”

Reynolds, who recently relocated to the area, brings a background in Anthropology from George Washington University and nearly a decade of experience leading volunteer initiatives, managing daily nonprofit operations, planning community events, and supporting underserved populations. Her leadership will allow the Spanglers to focus more fully on facility planning, resource development, and expanding healthcare access through a new nurse-led outreach initiative.

“Even in her first few weeks, Liz has shown she’s exactly what Wellspring needs to grow to the next level,” said Josiah Spangler, General Manager. “We’re dreaming big – and now we have the capacity to bring those dreams to life.”

Outside of work, Reynolds enjoys gardening, hiking, and playing with her dogs, and looks forward to deepening her connection to the Greenbrier County community.

About Wellspring of Greenbrier:

Founded in 2004 by Scarlett and Fred Kellerman, Wellspring provides essential support, including food, clothing, hygiene facilities, and referral services, to those in need throughout Greenbrier County and other surrounding counties in Southern West Virginia. The organization is currently developing a holistic, nurse-led healthcare program to better address the barriers faced by many low-income Appalachian residents.
