MERRY CHRISTMAS! The Greenbrier East Wrestling Team hosted the 3rd Annual Greenbrier Duals at Greenbrier East High School. It was nice to wrestle at home against some tough competition. There were 8 teams in this Dual Meet Tournament. The other teams were Wyoming East, Oak Hill, Shady Spring, Wirt County, Roanoke Catholic, Va., Covington, Va. and Harrisonburg, Va. Our Wrestlers defeated Covington, Va., Roanoke Catholic and Oak Hill. Wirt County beat Shady Spring and us to win the Championship. Jasiel Kinder, Logan Evans and Evan Roberts were all undefeated and Greenbrier Duals Champions. Other Spartan Wrestlers with successful 4-1 records were Thomas Bostic, Levi Hobbs, Josiah Solak and Sheldon Simmons. Jacob Hefner, Aaron Davis, Walker Hager and Jordan Jones each finished with 3 wins apiece. We are very proud of the effort and class displayed by ALL our Wrestlers.
Many of our top Wrestlers are “buying in” to the Strength and Conditioning part of our program under the leadership of Coach Billy Thomas. He is a No-Nonsense person when it comes to improving. I Love it!!
It’s exciting to see Coach Lou Withrow get “fired up” as he prepares each of our wrestlers for their daily practice. Heck, he even yells at me because I talk too much. He wants nothing but the best for every one of our Wrestlers.
Coach Solak does it all. There’s not a thankless job that I don’t throw his way. In the big picture, Greenbrier East Wrestling would not be as successful on and off the mats without his influence.
I am very lucky to be surrounded by these loyal people. All of our Wrestlers reap the benefits. (Some may not realize it until they are older though)

This Monday and Tuesday we travel to Grundy, Va., for the Aggie Skeens Tournament. It is one of the most prestigious Tournaments in Virginia. EGMS UPDATE: Liam Lusher, Zach Mullins, Jaylon Battaile, Jacob Smith and Jordan Williams were all undefeated and Champions at the Beckley Duals Championships.
