Regent Cronquist and Vice Regent Deegans with Sally Ford (center).

The General Andrew Lewis Chapter of National Society Daughters of the American Revolution met for a Dutch-treat luncheon at Cook’s private dining room on Nov. 21.  The meeting was to honor the club on the 70th anniversary of the club being founded.  The club was organized Oct. 1, 1954, and the first Regent was Mrs. William Phelps.

Prior to the meeting, Regent Suzanne Cronquist and Vice Regent Judy Deegans visited with Sally Ford who has been a DAR member for 73 years.  Her reminiscences were shared with the club at the luncheon.

A silent auction was held to raise funds to help the club honor the 250th anniversary of our country.  Each member brought something to be auctioned and it was a fun event.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, non-political women’s service organization whose main objectives are historic preservation, education and patriotism. Members are all lineal descendants of those who supported the cause of independence in the Revolutionary War back in 1776. If you are interested in the Daughters of the American Revolution, call Registrar Sandra Cowan at 681-215-5303 in the afternoon.

Attendees of the meeting were Front Row: Vice Regent Judy Deegans (left), Shirley Runyon, Historian Debbie McClung, Regent Suzanne Cronquist, and Nancy Greenstreet; Back Row: Treasurer Barb Hiltner (left), Corresponding Secretary Karen Lee McClung, Gretchen Lovett, Mary McClung Fullen, Addie Goodrich, Doris Kasley, Recording Secretary Carol Olson, Sissy Isaac, Ruth Sturgill, Paige Haynes, and Jodie Nidey.
Hostesses were Shirley Runyon (left) and Debbie Phillips.
Auction coordinators Barb Hiltner and Karen McClung.
