Mary Ellen Bond, 94, of Nettie passed away on Monday night, Nov. 18, 2024, at Rainelle Healthcare Center.

She was born Dec. 3, 1929, at Orient Hill, the daughter of the late Lewis Chapman and Cora Fitzwater Chapman.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Brown Bond; one grandson; two sisters and three brothers.

Mary attended the Beckley Chapel Church of Nettie. She volunteered at Nettie Ambulance for 17 years. She enjoyed sewing, reading, crafts and she constantly cared for her family.

Those left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Eva Dorsey of Mt. Nebo, Diana Burroughs of Nettie, Clara “Cookie” Thomas of Nettie; two sons, Steve Bond of Craigsville, David Bond of Nettie; sister, Shirley Brown of Charleston; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one great granddaughter, one great grandson.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 24, at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle with Pastor Alva Casto officiating. Burial will follow in the Fields Cemetery, Nettie. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral chapel.
