“Christmas is not as much about opening our presents as opening our hearts.” — Janice Maeditere
As we enter into this holiday season, we begin to think about spending time with our families and friends, about shopping for gifts, and about going to parties and events. For the past 45 years, many folks in Greenbrier County begin thinking about helping others through Penny Pitch. Many people have been giving to this worthy cause for years!
Penny Pitch is an all-volunteer organization that helps families in need at Christmas. Our intentions are to help families who are trying to make ends meet, but need a leg up this year and to help children have something to look forward to at Christmas. We try to help with toys, winter clothing, and even utilities.
The Mountain Messenger, along with City National Bank and Wellspring, have been providing applications for families to complete. Service clubs are gearing up to do interviews. Now we need your help. We can only provide what we can afford, so we need funds.
Please open your heart this season and help this effort to support those less fortunate in our community. You can mail your tax-deductible gift to Penny Pitch, 383 Alderson St., Lewisburg, WV 24901. You can also drop a check off at the Mountain Messenger office at 860 N. Court Street in Lewisburg. You can also give online through the PayPal button on our Facebook page, “Penny Pitch, Greenbrier County WV.”
