Freddie Ernest Simms 83, of Port Orange, FL, passed away peacefully Oct. 7, 2024, with his wife by his side. Born Sept. 18, 1941, in Ronceverte, WV.
He was the son of the late Roy Ashby Simms, Sr. and I. O. Simms
He left behind Anna Lee the wife he adored and loved for 20 days short of 57 years. They had a love story marriage.
Other than his parents he was preceded in death by sisters Clara and Dorothy, brothers Howard, Carl, Samuel, Laure, and Roy Ashby Simms, Jr.
Survivors along with his wife are several nieces, nephews, and many very close friends.
Before his retirement he worked for several mechanical contractors in central Florida as a project manager. He also operated two of his own companies. He acquired three Florida State Licenses. General Contractor, Plumbing Contractor, and Mechanical Contractor. He also served his country in the Navy. He is of Baptist faith. He played the guitar and loved bluegrass and country music. He was a member of the American Legion #270 Port Orange, FL. He lit a candle for the evening meal each day. His beautiful asset was his honesty and integrity.
Funeral services will be Sunday Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home Lewisburg, WV, with Rev. Lewis Brooks officiating. Freddie and Lewis were teenage friends. Viewing one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in the Greenbrier Memorial Gardens Lewisburg, WV.
