Second annual Monroe County Pumpkin Festival set this weekend

The second annual Monroe County Pumpkin Festival will be held this weekend from Friday, Oct. 4 through Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Hanna Farmstead in Pickaway. The farm features a pumpkin patch, wagon rides, corn mazes, flower garden, kid’s activities, and a selection of vendors and food. This weekend’s vendors include Udderly Smooth Rolled Ice Cream, Mill Creek Homestyle Bakery, Sugar Bears, L&B creations, Heart to Hoof Creations, Bloom2beyou Permanent Jewelry, Reusable Homestead, Twilight Valley Homestead, InSoul Boho by Inclusive Soul, and Clay & Grace by Savannah Fullen. 

Each evening at dusk there will be a Glow/Flashlight Maze for all ages, as well as a different movie showing each evening at 7:30 p.m. Saturday’s showing is Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and kids can keep an eye out for Wonka chocolate bars throughout the farm – find a Golden Ticket and win a prize!

A petting zoo with goats, cows, ducks, a donkey, and a pony will also be on-site, as well as other family-friendly activities and things to do around the farm. 

Tickets can be pre-purchased at www.thehannafarmstead.com. General admission is $12.75 with ages three and under free of charge, and season passes are $59.95.

The full weekend schedule is as follows:

 

Friday from 6 to 10 p.m.:

Vendors start at 6 p.m.

Glow maze/flashlight maze at dusk

Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events (runtime 1 hour and 48 minutes) playing at 7:30 p.m.

 

Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.:

Vendors starting at 11 a.m.

Paws and Pumpkins adoptions with the Greenbrier Humane Society from 3 to 7 p.m.

Tahoe Farm Club Tractor Parade at 1 p.m.

Glow Maze/Flashlight Maze at dusk

Movie: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (runtime 1 hour and 40 minutes) playing at 7:30 p.m.

 

Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m.:

Vendors starting at 1p.m.

Picture Scavenger Hunt (prize for the first person to complete)

Glow Maze/Flashlight Maze at dusk

Movie: Spookley the Square Pumpkin playing at 7:30 p.m.

 

About the Hanna Farmstead:

Climb aboard our wagon rides for a scenic tour, challenge each other in an array of seasonal games, and create cherished memories. And there’s more – our U- pick flower field offers a kaleidoscope of colors and fragrances for you to enjoy. 

The Hanna Farmstead is located at 1211 Hillsdale Road. Regular hours for the season are Friday from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. each weekend through Oct. 27.

Directions from downtown Lewisburg: Travel Route 60 towards Caldwell for 3.4 miles and turn right onto Monroe Draft Road. In 5.8 miles turn left onto Seneca Trail S. and travel Seneca Trail S. (219 South) for 7.4 miles and then turn left onto Hillsdale Road. In 1.2 miles turn left into the parking lot.

Directions from Union: Travel 219 North towards Pickaway for 3.5 miles and turn right onto Hillsdale Road. In 1.2 miles turn left into the parking lot.
