The annual Parade of Lights will be held in Fairlea on Wednesday, Sept. 11. Sponsored by the Greenbrier County Fire and Emergency Responder’s Association, this parade was created to honor the first responders and others who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, in the World Trade Center attacks.
The lineup begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Midway of the State Fairgrounds with a show and tell of emergency vehicles and equipment, as well as a landing of the HealthNet helicopter. Afterwards, a ceremony will be held from 6:30 to 7:20 p.m. with a candlelight vigil at the Cecil H. Underwood Building. The parade will leave the fairgrounds at 7:40 p.m., and will go past McDonalds on Rt. 219, through Fairlea to Lowe’s in Lewisburg, circles back through Fairlea, and will end at the Fairgrounds.
