For the first time in six years, the Greenbrier Valley Chorale will usher in the Christmas season with a traditional Festival of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, Dec. 14, at 3 p.m. at Carnegie Hall, 101 Church Street in Lewisburg.
Readings, carols and lovely songs – both familiar and new – will be sung in the tradition of the same service presented at King’s College in Cambridge, England every Christmas Eve. With the lessons read by community members and the audience joining in on the carols, the concert will fill Carnegie Hall with the joyful music of Christmastide.
The Greenbrier Valley Chorale has excited audiences with its musical excellence and versatility for the past 25 years. The Chorale’s concerts are a popular highlight of the Christmas season in the Greenbrier Valley. The choir features singers ranging from advanced high school students to retirees. They are directed by Barbara Wygal Lutz and accompanied by Teresa Bryant on the piano.
Tickets to the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols are $12 for adults and $5 for children through grade 12. Tickets may be purchased or online at www.carnegiehallwv.com or at the door on the day of the concert.
The Greenbrier Valley Chorale receives funding from the Greenbrier County Commission Arts and Recreation Fund and generous community supporters.
