Clover Billiards to host pool tournaments for all
By Chelsea Blair
Greenbrier County residents are always looking for new activities to do with their families, especially indoor activities during the colder months. Shawn Frazier took this into consideration and opened a new family business, Clover Billiards, in Hart’s Run. Frazier stated that after watching his good friend successfully run a family business and do so well, he was encouraged to do the same and offer a place for the community to enjoy.
Clover Billiards opened with a pool tournament on May 2, and patrons of all ages enjoyed dancing and a snack bar. Frazier added that he wants the establishment to be a fun place for anyone and everyone.
“I want women and children to come in here and feel safe. I want parents to know that their kids are safe here,” he stated. Additionally, he decided to host the first women’s-only pool tournaments in the county, for those wanting to get more practiced and comfortable at the game.
According to Frazier, Clover Billiards is the first business in Greenbrier County to have 9-foot Diamond tables. There are currently six diamond tables at the establishment, but he plans to eventually have around 10.
Pool tournaments will be held every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, with Women’s Night being held on Wednesdays. There is a $10 entry fee to all tournaments and a $5 cover fee for those not competing in tournaments, which includes full access to the stereo and a few free games for the kids. As of now, small snacks are available, but Frazier plans to open a kitchen and eventually they will begin serving alcoholic beverages, but will be limiting purchase times to allow the establishment to remain family friendly.
“I’m looking at long term here, we have endless opportunities. My mind is racing with things to do here,” said Frazier. He expects to host cornhole tournaments, arcade games, live bands, and karaoke night once a week. Also, he plans to add a VIP section available for rent for those who want a private pool table and area for family and friends to enjoy all to themselves.
Additionally, he wants to add a mechanical bull and hopes to start a mechanical bull tournament once per month. Bull rides will be available once per week and the fees collected will be added to a pot that will grow monthly and be given to the winner of that month’s tournament.
Clover Billiard’s will be celebrating its Grand Opening in June with a pig roast dinner. Frazier is excited for the future of the business and encourages everyone to come out and enjoy the fun. Anticipated hours will be Tuesday through Sunday from 4 p.m. onward.
