With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Billy Mike Gabbert, Jr., 79, of White Sulphur Springs, WV. He peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Billy was preceded in death by his loving parents, Billy Mike Sr. and Dove Gabbert, sisters, Margaret, and Lena, nieces, Debbie, and Kathy and his grandson, Michael.
Billy was born June 10, 1944, and raised in White Sulphur Springs. Billy’s life was a testament to faith, love and service.
Billy was a master carpenter and locksmith. He worked as the head locksmith at The Greenbrier Hotel for 29 years. He was known for his love and dedication to his crafts. Billy took great pride in his work.
Billy’s legacy continues through his beloved wife, Norma Gabbert of 55 years, his daughters, Sharon (Joey), Christina and Leanne, grandchildren, Heather, Leonard, and Chevelle (Caleb), great-grandchildren, Madison, Kayden, and Piper, niece, Sandy, great nieces, Lorie (Stephen), and Jessica (CJ), great nephew, Douglas (Alicia), great-great nieces and nephews, Jacob, Layla, Ivan, Harley, and Nevaeh, and great-great-great nieces, Paisley, Memphis, and Mabel, adopted son that he never had Tommy Fields (Samanthah) and their son Jett.
Billy was a source of strength and unwavering support for his family, always putting their needs above his own. Although Billy will be deeply missed, he will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family would like to thank Joey, his son-in-law, for all the loving care he provided to Pops, and everyone who devoted care for Billy.
A Celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, at the Alvon Living Word Church at 9414 Pocahontas Trail, White Sulphur Springs, WV 24986 with Pastor Buck Caldwell officiating.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
