The culvert replacement project at the entrance to the Dogwood Heights subdivision in Lewisburg has been underway over the last several weeks, with an estimated construction completion date of Mar. 29. After heavy storms washed out the existing culvert several months ago, Public Works Director Tony Legg had reported that engineers would be doing a stormwater study to ensure the new culvert would be able to handle heavy storms.
City Manager Misty Hill said that the bid for the culvert replacement was awarded to Bear Construction, LLC, located out of Bridgeport, WV for the amount of nearly $258,000. The repair itself is relatively short project at 60 days, but there may be a wait to complete the final paving portion depending on the date of the opening of the asphalt plants for the season.
The public is urged to use caution in the construction zone area until the project in complete.
